Thanks Norman.

Do look at the carpet, I drew something awful on it.

But where?

David Schneider

David Schneider, star of The Day Today, Knowing Me, Knowing You...With Alan Partridge, The Saturday/Friday/Election/Christmas/New Year Night Armistice (delete as appropriate), Uncle Max and Mission Impossible had this to say of the laughter sketch:

"Good performances. Like the reality. Good idea - not sure it sustained. Would have cut it down and just brought out the best bits (the glimpse at the script was v funny. Liked the start, the choreographing) but cos it's a bit long we have time to ask ourselves what was the reality of the script? Why did they think this was funny? a bit too much. Also, ideally you'd shoot it more statically but that's in an ideal world with money and stuff. Very much liked the perf's tho."

Thanks David.

He Done A Bad Murder

This is Steve Pemberton as David Sowerbutts as Carruthers the butler in Murder and Chips's Foppington Manor in Psychoville.

Is here any relation between Mister Carruthers and butler Carruthers?

As far we know our Carruthers doesn't smear excrement on walls, splatter semen on floors or have a dance routine to Superman by Black Lace.

As far as we know...

Ivor Doesn't Mince His Words

Ivor Dembina is without a doubt one of the best Jewish sado-masochist stand-up comedians working in Edinburgh today.

Having seen the laughter sketch and the actor's rehearsals, here are his thoughts:

Content: 'Knowing' middle-class tripe.
Presentation: Blatant rip of The Office.

Thanks Ivor.

Shwing

The internet is a strange place, but if you have a fetish there's more than likely someone out there who shares it.

Why not spice things up in the bedroom and introduce Gi's favourite animal into the procedings?

Chiropterosexuals go forth and multiply. With bats.

He Are Klang

We Are Klang (above).

We Aren't Klang, We Are Mr Carruthers Presents. The guy on the right: he are Marek Larwood. Here's what he had to say after watching our various bits of video nuggetry (despite being lied to about the duration):

"That was more than three fucking minutes! I watched all of them. Really enjoyed them, the actors one is good too. Which one are you? You should send these to an agent."

Thanks Marek.

Thumbs Up

Phil Reed, a friend of this Parish and a ruddy bloody funny bloke has been having some trouble with one of his digits recently.

Get well soon, Phil.

What to say, Emma K?

Emma Kennedy, writer, star of The Smoking Room and Suburban Shootout and one-time voice of Kotex Ultrathin Pantypads had these thoughts about The Laughter Sketch:

"Actually I thought that was rather good. It's too long though - you need to cut it in half and I couldn't hear the punchline at all - and I replayed the ending three times and still couldn't hear it properly so you need to address that. As an idea though it's good and you all performed it very well. Those are my thoughts."

Thanks Emma.

It wasn't him. Sorry.

We've informed the Ordnance Survey and they've amended their maps accordingly.

Iced

It's not really summer until you've had a 99.
It's not really a 99 if it doesn't have a flake.

North Of The Border

Remaining in Scotland for the time being, a consultation of the map throws up some interesting Carruthers nuggets. Or Carruggets.

In addition to Carruthers Fell, Dumfries & Galloway also has a Carruthers Bridge which would in itself be fascinating if I could find a photograph and if it wasn't completely overshadowed by the revelation that we have found Carruthers.

Yep, call off the search, put down your walking stick and break the bulbs in all the torches. We've found the bastard. See that to the south of Carruthers Bridge? There he is, apparently standing stock still for the purposes of cartography.

All in all today's been a very successful day.

This is Carruthers Fell in Scotland. About four kilometres from Waterbeck, Dumfries And Galloway.
But is this is where Mr Carruthers Fell in Scotland?

Barruthers

Look what turned up near Geashill, Offaly in Ireland. Described as "the bar for stout" no less.

Has Mr Carruthers been to the emerald isle?

P

Carruthers' Purple Podded Pea to be precise.

Described as "Tall and vigorous", Carruthers' Purple Podded Pea grows to about 6ft. It is early flowering, although the flowers themselves are unscented.

The yields are generous and the plants produce a great many pods. The peas inside are olive green, large and very tightly packed, usually eight to a pod. They square off and become chunky as they are forced against each other in the pod. A bit like those square Japanese melons.

It is however more susceptible than most varieties to the pea moth.
