In addition to the above they take the 2nd of January, the day after New Years Day, as a public holiday which they have chosen to officially call:
The Day After New Years Day.
You can't argue with that.

P.P.P.P.P.P.P.P.S. On the eighth day of Christmas, my true love sent to me eight maids a-milking, seven swans a-swimming, six geese a-laying, five gold rings, four calling birds, three French hens, two turtle doves and a partridge in a pear tree.
